Path

Path

Isn't this a pretty picture? This is the local bike path, which used to be a railroad track. Maybe because it's so long and flat and straight, the bicycle riders you encounter zoom by like guided missiles. Look out if you have any desire to stroll along slowly and enjoy the overhanging shady branches, walk your dog or push ya stroller. You will become an impediment.

Why would anyone want to ride a bike along this path, when they could just walk? You have to own an expensive bike, a slick fitting little bike suit, a helmet, and a fancy water bottle, plus you have to keep the bike maintained and the wheels all inflated. You are going so fast that you miss all the scenery. If you go over a bump, you might end up going splat onto the pavement.
