Assyrian Carving

I found it interesting that there was lots of information about who and what these works of art represent, yet next to nothing about the artists or their technique.

In a modern art museum there is usually an inscription describing the materials used.

I could tell that much of the stone was granite because it had the same speckling as a modern granite countertop. But how in the world these primitive people managed to carve such perfectly smooth patterns into such hard stone is never explained.
